Healing begins when someone bears witness.

Individual Therapy for Teens

It’s hard being a teen and it’s hard being the parent of a teen. Adolescence is a period of exploration, searching for independence and a sense of self. It’s a normal time for teens to explore what matters to them, what they believe in, and what they want for their futures. It’s a time of upheaval. We might even call it an identity crisis, which is absolutely a recipe for big emotions and attempts at coping (in some helpful and maybe not so helpful ways).

The teens I work with often struggle to navigate emotions that feel really big and really intense. What might look like harmful behaviors in the eyes of adults is a teen’s attempt at feeling better. Some behaviors might be louder, while other behaviors may be more internalized. Either way, it’s painful. When you’re a teen, it’s hard to see other options. I help bring those other options into perspective.

I work with teens to help them navigate those complex feelings that come with self-discovery. Together, we will work through those difficult emotions by cultivating a space where your teen feels heard and respected. Therapy allows teens the opportunity to learn to grow through hard emotions and experiences, while building the foundation for a life worth living.

Individual Therapy for Adults

Life can feel overwhelming at times (or, a lot of the time). There’s no roadmap for navigating adulthood, at any stage. We’re all waiting for that moment when we’ll get it, when we’ll finally feel like adults and it’ll just make sense. For most of us, that time never comes, at least not in the big momentous way we’ve hoped and waited for. Letting that be okay can feel uncomfortable.

Adulthood is full of transitions. Right when you feel like you’ve gotten it under control, the game changes. Therapy can provide a place to navigate the unknown, to help find that flexibility within uncertainty. Therapy allows us to create space for mindfulness and possibility. It allows us to slow down in a world that demands productivity and efficiency and prioritize connection and compassion.

Sometimes, in that overwhelm, we can become so focused on coping that we miss out on living. I work with adults who have found that old coping skills, that once provided safety and protection, are now causing harm and distress. Together, we’ll work to find new ways of being and caring for yourself in this unpredictable and messy world.

Online Therapy

Sometimes, you just can’t make it into the office. Therapy shouldn’t be limited to only those that are able to physically access an office space. I use a secure video conferencing platform to make therapy accessible for residents of Texas.

Texas is a big state but surprisingly limited in resources, particularly for folks seeking specialty eating disorder care. Online therapy makes services accessible for folks that are invested in recovering from their eating disorder but would not otherwise have access to specialty care.

I provide online therapy to both teens and adults. All that is required of you is a strong internet connection, a private room, and a computer or phone with a working camera. Therapy doesn’t have to be complicated or intimidating, it can be as simple as logging onto your computer within the comfort of your home.

Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.
